Chris Turpin’s 12 string Mavis
12 string Mavis with a soundboard back for Chris Turpin @surfburst. The man needed a new tool of destruction with way more strings on it so here we go! The top is one from my secret stash. I love it because it looks like ripples in a river. It also has a floating roasted spruce back. The sound well is routed all the way through the main body piece, and the spruce soundboard is set above it on spaced out shims. The holes between the shims act like soundholes letting the sound created by the cone launching sound at the soundboard. I’m making a six string Mavis with the same design. I’ll make a video comparing the two. I can’t wait to hear the sounds Chris gets out of it.
