Burn the Boat

Burn the Boat

If there’s something you want to accomplish or a person you want to become then you must commit to doing something you’re currently incapable of. “Burn the boat” was the commitment to learning that started Mule, now written on this beautiful banner by the mighty @louisebrookeart.

“Burn the boat” is not an ignorant “fake it till you make it” confidence. It’s not the authority marketing of social media. It opposes that mentality-it’s relentless forward progress based on self doubt. It’s not, “this is the way follow me,” it’s methodically inspecting a minefield while blind folded. It’s an acceptance what you don’t know and figuring out how to know it. When you think you know something you do something. Then you evaluate the outcome instead of what you think or feel and accept a new unknown or failure and repeat the cycle. Over and over and over again.

This voyage has brought me a life of luthiery and friends and experiences I couldn’t have imagined. Including @davidandthedevil and @louisebrookeart.

Thanks to everyone for the adventure.

-Matt
