Mule/Huss And Dalton Charity Guitar

I moved to Virginia as a youthful enthusiast eager for my first job at Huss and Dalton Guitars in the Shenandoah Valley. They taught me what I needed to know to make great instruments and about the value of being a part of a musical community. I worked alongside Jeff Huss carving necks. When my junky vehicle needed a new engine Mark Dalton helped me swap engines, and in return I bailed hay on his farm where he used mules to work. My brief experience around these intelligent, hard working animals is where the Mule name came from.

We built this Mavis and then sent it unfinished to Huss and Dalton to have them put their spin on it.  This is the last neck Jeff Huss carved before he retired.   They bound the fingerboard and headstock, and sprayed the burst on the back and finished it.

The proceeds of this instrument will go to two local charities that promote musical culture in their communities: Major Chords for Minors in Saginaw, and the Red Wing Academy, a children's music camp in Virginia.  Both provide musical instruction for kids.
