The other guitars - metal tricones and steel mulecasters - have wait times of around 5 or 7 months respectively. Ignore the scalpers who say it’s 16. I don’t want to keep much of your money tied up during the wait so it’s only a $250 deposit. A couple months before your build we will confirm details with ya. Then you’ll start getting the frenzy-inducing progress pictures of your instrument. Seriously though - decent, civilized adults turn into reso-fiends who can only express their excitement with curse words when they start getting pictures of wood and steel with their name on it being turned into music-tools. It’s a good a time. Your name goes on a label and certificate drawn by my good friend @baumwerkj. Jack and I have worked on things for Mule for the last 10 years or so. I should record one of our conversations one day. What’s involved is not “could we put a mule guy here” or “how about a hammer?” We just start talking about life, work, our intense internal battles, spirituality, puppet shows, whiskey and curse words and then I say “ok well I’m sure you’ve got some ideas now!” We laugh and then he pulls out some magic.

All THAT being said I think we’ve got a pretty cool thing going on with the Mule Team. There’s no nerdy gear talk. It’s just full of good people who mostly have never played a resonator before who end up being friends. They’re adventurous enough to see inspiration in unexpected instruments. We listen to really good music. We hang out in parking lots at Mule Bus Stop tailgates. And we’re always looking for more people who are into that sort of thing.
