Matt, there's another reason why some folks light up with "the new sound of steel," that I wanted to toss in. The five-element theory in Chinese philosophy talks about the metal element (earth, water, wood and water being the other four.) The theory goes that these five fundamental elements make up everything in the universe between which interactions occur. So based on the time you took your first breath, (Chinese horoscopes are calculated mathematically, like western horoscopes), your basic constitution emerges. Some people are more fire, others are more wood, others are mostly water, etc. My point is, some people have a predominance of metal in their Chinese horoscope and when the resonating cone of a Mule guitar vibrates, it resonates through their cells and speaks to them in a way that wood-body instruments cannot match. Read #4 on this site, for a chuckle. https://www.purewow.com/wellness/chinese-zodiac-elements
